X1 4K Autotuning
This has been an ongoing issue where the XG1v4 4K DVR does not autotune to the 4K version when selecting the HD channel. Looks like we finally know why. Xfinity recently added an actual channel for 4K golf (ch 1353 GOLF4K) and the first round of the Players Championship is on now. Beautiful in 4K HDR!
If you tune to the regular HD golf channel, the X1 autotunes to the 4K channel, just like it's supposed to. What's different? GOLF4K is an actual linear channel rather than an ip connection like all of the other 4K sports events except for the Olympics. Now we know.

Wow. An actual 4K channel? Going to have to check this out. Wouldn't it be great if they would do this for NHL games (Boston and Chicago both have real 4K production facilities in place), and English Soccer (at least half the games are produced in real 4K there also). Great if they'd have a dedicated sports channel in 4K only too!; to cover everything else. They could also port over NBC Sports 4K channel also without too much difficulty.

Just tried to tune in 1353.......................no luck. Do they turn it off when not broadcasting? Are they going to use it for other sports as well?

They could easily shut down many of the duplicate channels they’re posting in the upper numbers to make at least 2 or 3 24hr 4K channels. There’s more than enough 4K programming between the NHL, EPL, F1 racing and other worldwide sports to fill up the time. They can no longer claim that there’s not enough 4K TVs out there since 2/3 rd of US households have at least one capable 4K TVs (as per IMDB). Other countries like the U.K., South Korea, Japan, China, and various others have dedicated 4K service. Have we become a [Edited: "Language"] country that isn’t capable of using current technology?
