Why no smart record

For sporting events the listing often schedules a beginning and ending time, which does not necessarily reflect reality as many games, such as tennis begin late and finish even later. So why can’t the recording actually follow what real happens and adjust on the fly so we do not miss any of the match? Modern software systems ought to be able to handle this.

Good afternoon user_uqvioa. I can understand the concern where sports events can run over. Here is some additional recording information, as far as changing recording options.

Change recording options

When you choose to change recording options, you'll see the Modify recording pop-up box. If you’re modifying a recording for a TV series, it will present two options:

  • Tap Just this episode to change the options only for this episode.
  • Tap Series recording to change the options for all future episodes in this series.

If you tap Just this episode, you'll see recording options for just the current episode. If you tap Series recording, you'll see recording options for all episodes in the series.

When selecting recording options, you may be presented with some of the below choices:

  • Save: Save each recorded episode until space is needed or for one year.
  • Start: Start recording on time or start one or two minutes early.
  • Stop: Stop recording on time or stop two, three, five, or 30 minutes late.
  • Record: Record only new episodes or record new and repeat episodes.
  • Channels: Set your HD or SD channel preference.
  • Keep: Keep all recorded episodes or keep between one and five episodes.
  • When to record: Record only episodes that are broadcast in the timeslot for the current episode or record episodes no matter what time they're on.

When you're finished selecting your recording options, tap Update to finalize your changes or select Dismiss to close the menu.

Please let me know if this helps.
