Upgraded my TV X1 boxes

Last week I received an email from Xfinity, telling me I needed to upgrade my two TV boxes to newer equipment. So, I responded OK, and I received two new boxes. Both very tiny compared to the old ones. One new box is dead on arrival. I took it to an Xfinity store and they sent me home with a different box. I hook it up and the interface is terrible, can’t directly input channel numbers, etc. I took that back to the store and they told me I had been given the wrong box. They sent me home with yet a different box. Now, I am up and running. However, my old boxes had cable input and the new boxes stream through my internet connection. I assume now my TV watching is counting against my internet data? Which most likely means I’m going to have to upgrade my internet package to keep from going over my data limit. Seems like a sneaky ploy by Comcast! Also, I’ve changed the settings on both boxes to power saver mode, but they still stay on for 4 hours after turning them off. So, I guess I’m still using internet data for 4 hours and I am not even watching. When I power on the boxes it takes at least a minute for them to come on, and that is always with a message saying, “Something went wrong, try again.” When I hit OK on the remote the TV program then comes on.

After going through all the hassle to get these new boxes up and running, I feel like I’ve taken a giant step backwards. Am I making wrong assumptions about the data usage?

Clem744 Thanks for creating a post. I'm sorry to hear about your experience with receiving new equipment, and I do want to clarify that watching live TV, OnDemand, and Pay-Per-View content will not count as data usage on the wireless TV boxes. Only normal use through streaming and internet apps would count toward your data usage, so you should have no need to make additional changes to your internet plan. This article can provide more information in its FAQ about wireless boxes.
