Upgrade from XG2v2-P to XG1V4

Ive upgraded with a 4k tv.  I’ve tried to order the XG1V4 through customer service.  They are adamant that all I need is an Xi6, and they keep sending them.  I lease a Comcast modem so no issue there.  I’ll refrain from returning these 3 extra boxes until I hear.  Could you please advise on the best setup to take advantage of 4k as of July 2026.  As for the DVR the XG2 is cloud based, it’s ok but I prefer the hard drive.  The cloud based one gets confused and sends it back to the start with no way to return to the spot I lost it.  Does the XG1V4 still have a hard drive as of July 2026?

I have two XG1v4 DVRs and prefer the wired connection over wireless, local recording, and more tuners for simultaneous recording.  The one advantage of the Xi6 I see is support for Dolby Vision over HDR10.  You also can place it in rooms that aren't wired.  It seems to be harder and harder to get an XG1v4 these days.  The support people here may be able to help you get the box you want.

Thanks for the reply, can the Xi6 go on the main tv?  I assumed I still needed a “ main box” that was wired.

user_0oeze5 You can use the Xi6 on the main TV as long as you have a XG1, XG2, or XG1v4 TV Box assigned to your account. However, members who are configured as All IP don't need an XG device.

I believe the Xi6 can be the main box, but you should get confirmation from Xfinity.
