I believe I connected everything that needs to be connected. The screen is up and it says “Select Your Language” but when I try to click “English” the light on the remote goes green then red right away.

it must have been connected to another cable box at one point. If the remote has a setup button, hold it down until the light goes from red to green. on the number pad, enter '9-8-1'. if the remote doesn't have a setup button, hold the a and d buttons until the light goes from red to green and enter '9-8-1'. your remote will restart and will work with your box.
