TV Sound turns on randomly

Hello!  We are using a Denon A/V receiver with our Sony TV and Xfinity X1 DVR.  The receiver turns on randomly (usually in the middle of the night, but not always) and starts playing the audio of the tv over our home theater system.  The support team from Denon says there is "something" on the cable box that is causing the receiver to turn on.  Does anyone have any idea what that "something" could be? Both the TV and the receiver are new.  Thank you ... Patti & Craig

Look for CEC settings on either tv or receiver (or both)

Our surround sound did this at exactly 3:30am this morning, South Puget Sound area.  We are using both Panasonic TV and surround sound system that we have had for years and never had this happen before.  I think Xfinity pushed an update that triggered a signal to the surround sound, which is connected directly to the X1 box.

Xfinity, can you confirm?

do you have sleep mode (power saver) turned on in the X1 set top box menu? that may be causing the issue as the box comes out of power save mode to do the nightly update. if so turn off power save mode. Also, you could turn off the CEC setting on the receiver, too.
