Turn off voice remote notifications

I want to revive my question about my XG1v4 feeding me notifications to “Next time change the channel by saying CBS.”  I dont want to use the voice remote and the notifications are annoying.  I have all notifications turned off in xfinity settings preferences.  I swapped out the cable box twice, had several series of DMs, and agreed to a service call where when I  explained the situation, the tech had no idea why he was dispatched.

In a recent call to support about a different issue, the rep indicated that system messages are exempt from user settings and cannot be toggled off.  Is this what has happened? Have these messages been recategorized so that I can’t turn them off even if I dont use the remote voice commands?  If so, that is a mistake on your part that needs correcting.

Hi, @cambridge how are you? In another forum this was fixed by doing a system refresh using the remote.  I hope doing the following steps help! Give this a try when you have a moment:

  1. Press the A button on your remote control, or visit the Help section in Settings.
  2. Highlight the System Refresh tile, and press OK.
  3. Please remember that performing a System Refresh will interrupt all X1 TVs and recordings in your home for up to 10 minutes. If you would like to proceed, highlight Refresh Now, and press OK.
  4. Once the System Refresh is in progress, don't unplug or turn off any of your TV Boxes, which will automatically restart during this process.
  5. The X1 Welcome screen will appear after the TV Box restarts.
  6. Once the System Refresh has been completed, your TV Box will return to live TV.

@XfinityJosephA I tried this multiple times when trying to resolve this over the last few months.  Tried it again at your suggestion.  After refresh, I entered a channel number and was greeted with  “To change the channel faster, say PBS”

Thanks for giving this a try again. I know you have worked with us a lot and our team on the phone said this option can't be disabled, but I will need to take a closer look at your account to double-check. If you have the time use the Direct Messaging icon at the top of the page to send your name and service address to "Xfinity Support.

we should be able to turn this feature off it ridiculous that we can't. It's annoying enough that I'm considering switching to DIRECTV or dish..
