Toshiba-Fire Turning On by itself!

We have a Toshiba fire tv and ever since we got our new box the tv is turning itself on I’ve read everything and tried everything if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. I’m ready to throw the x1 remote out the window! Now it’s turning itself on and off. Well now I can add to this that I indeed did unplug the tv and plugged it in the wall I thought it was fixed, nope still turning on by itself.

I have the same exact issue! Just started recently...I've replaced my X1 box and still have the same problem. TV comes on in the middle of the night about every half hour, sound with no picture...

@boulderbri  Exactly and now it’s shutting itself off too I don’t know how much more of this I can take!

@Brennie61 best guess is that the box is trying to update itself, and is turning on the Fire TV at the same time.

What happens if you unhook the Comcast box?  Does the TV still turn on and off by itself?

@XfinityChad2 You mean from the hdmi or unhook the cable wire from the tv to see if it still turns on and off? I will try unhooking the box from the tv and let you know

Mine is doing the same. Sound, but no picture. The power light indicates that the TV is OFF but the remote will change channels and mute. Random times. Pressing the power button on the Xfinity remote turns the TV on. Do I require a technician or an exorcist?

@TWeer56 Exactly the same issue. Unplugging the box solves the problem temporarily. Tier 1 told me yesterday that the issue must be the TV and would not transfer me to Tier 2. No response from Support via direct messaging in this app.

@boulderbri One other note, issue started 5/8 for me.

Hello, @TWeer56, thank you for reaching out to our team regarding the TV issues. So, is your TV turning on and off randomly or is your issue due to no picture?

I am having the same issue.  The TV turns on by itself and only after midnight.  When the TV comes on, there is no picture, but the sound on the TV comes on.

Hello @jfinneganesq we apologize you are experiencing the same issues with the television turning off and on, with no tv screen, but sound is playing in the background.

Looks like others in the community have already swapped boxes and HDMI cords, power cycled which provided a some what fix.

By any chance do you have the power saver feature on, try deactivating this mode by selecting: Settings,Device settings, Power preferences, Power saver starts after, then turn this mode off

I no longer work for Comcast.

I did a factory reset and that did the trick, until I tried to adjust the Power Controls to "Last Input" so I didn't have to always switch to HDMI1 from the home screen and the problem reoccurred. I think this setting is the issue--make sure it is off.

Hello @boulderbri ,

Thank you researching and taking the steps to troubleshoot the issue. Sounds like issue with the software of the TV. Perhaps it's when they send out updates. Can you let us know how things are going for you now?

I no longer work for Comcast.

@XfinityBrianW no issues since changing the Power Controls setting back to home from "Last Input". Settings > Display & Sounds > Power On

My tv was working fine until we had to change our cable to the fiber optic system.  Ever since then when the tv is off the sound comes on by itself randomly and turns off by itself after about 10 seconds.  It's like the tv has a mind of its' own.  The cable company says it's the tv but when I called Toshiba and the Geek Squad at Best Buy they are saying it's the cable company.  Does anyone know what they are doing?

@user_503fcf Check the Power Controls setting and make sure it is not set to "Last Input". If that doesn't work, try a factory reset.
