Terrible audio quality with wireless TV box

We replaced old cable TV  units (main and secondary) with new equipment; the secondary box connects to the Xfinity gateway wirelessly instead of direct cable connection, and after an hour the audio quality becomes unkistenable. Shutting down for a minute restores it for a time until it happens again. New equipment should work as least as well as the equipment it replaces, but we're experiencing the opposite. I have tried everything else Xfinity has suggested (including connecting an ethernet cable from the gateway to the box) and the problem persists. Xfinity just wants customers to give up out of frustration and force us to accept terrible service. Seems to me the best solution is to go back to the old type of box but I doubt that's an option. There must be a satisfactory solution but I have zero faith that Xfinity cares at all.
