Still no option to change screen saver, and why do I suddenly have Animals …

I last posted on this back in July. There is no longer an option to change the screen saver pictures/type anymore. Preview, yes. Type, NO. That option disappeared months ago.

I had originally (when the option existed) set my screen saver Type to Landscapes.  It has suddenly changed, to Animals.  I do not want Animals. How do I get Landscapes back?

Totally frustrating my screensaver changed to wicked the other day and now it’s on animals and I can’t change it back to landscapes… Aggravating.

@JDSY Thank you for bringing this to our attention! Let's get this figured out. Do you have any options available under "Feed"?

1 Message

No options available.

@XfinityTony

thank you!

feed has three options - All Updates, Headlines, and Weather

doesn’t change the screensaver images no matter if yes or no on the options…

seems like this started happening after the “wicked” preview photos started appearing as my screensaver… when those don’t rotate thru, it defaults to the animal photos….

Comcast has just removed the option, and replaced it with forced advertising. They were paying for! Wonder where that was in the fine print…

Ugh, I HATE these wicked scenes! I want the landscapes back! There is no longer a way to change it! I’ve been thinking of canceling Comcast/Xfinity, and if they don’t change this back, I’m done!

Definitely missing the landscapes as now we're forced to watch advertising for a woke movie.

@XfinityBrianH The problem with the instructions you provided is that the Screen Saver Type option is GONE. It no longer appears, so it cannot be set. THAT is the problem.

My apologies for the misunderstanding, @JDSY. Thank you for clarifying what was happening. We are looking into why the "Screen Saver Type" option is not appearing in the menu, but we do not currently have an explanation why, unfortunately. As soon as we have more information, we will post an update here or on our X1 Screensaver Support page at https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/x1-screen-saver.

I would rather see animals on my screensaver than the images I see. Without any warning images from the movie Wicked appear. I don't like it and I would rather have no screensaver than be subjected to something I don't want to see. Like other people have posted the screensaver option on settings is not working so I can't change it... and with the money we all pay Xfinity every month there's no excuse for them not fixing the screensaver option. Xfinity pushes me closer and closer every day to dropping their service like so many thousands of people have already done

You said you're an official Xfinity employee and you want to know if my question was answered. Of course my "question" wasn't answered. I didn't ask a question. Call it what you want… It was a comment, a statement or a concern but  it wasn't a question. Did anyone at Xfinity even bother to read my comment before responding?

user_850140, I've read your comments on this thread and would love to help you on this. I replied to a different comment you made in this thread, but can you please confirm if you're able to update your screensave using this Walkthrough?

@XfinityMarcos NO. THIS DOES NOT WORK. Once again with feeling … The Screen Saver Type option is not there anymore.  It’s gone. It does not display. So Type canNOT be (re)set.

That IS the problem. We now have no control over the screensaver. I can’t tell you how done I am with watching a forced ad for Wicked as a screensaver. Enough is enough! Looks like I’m not alone in this. Bring back the options so we can look at what WE want and PAY for…..not what you think we should see! Just one more thing driving me to look at other options. We pay more and get less. This has been going on for a few years now.

Ditto…I am so done with xfinity.

Detest the Wicked scenes like everyone else here. Give me Landscapes or give me death!
Saw Wicked on the stage and I’m not watching a movie of it too.

Ready to drop Xfinity because I’m sick of being forced to watch Wicked with no choice to choose screensaver.

@XfinityAngie Are you reading this thread? If yes, then you should know [Edited: "Inflammatory"]. The problem is that the Screen Saver Type option DOES NOT EXIST. IT HAS GONE AWAY. We all know how to reset the option - what we need is for Xfinity to fix it so that the option is available again.

@XfinityAngie

Hi, A week ago I attempted to change the screensaver, but there is no save or exit option. As soon as I make a selection, such as Autumn vibes, the systems automatically exits.  But it doesn’t save my selection. I had tried to reboot the system and then it went to animals on its own! This is ridiculous. Wicked is worse, I now do not plan to see this movie!

I did not have this problem a month or so ago, what is going on!?

1 Message

I’m not sure why Xfinity keeps sending information on how to change it when we actually can’t change it since the option is completely removed.  Not a fan of this new one at all.

Any updates on this. I have the same problem. Loved the landscape views not wicked, this just happened and no options to change theme. Any luck with a work around?

I reset the box, that got rid of Wicked but now I have animals. When I go to the screensaver option there is a listing of various options. I selected Fall and there is a check by it, but the screensaver is still animals.

I always had landscapes. Then Wicked. Suddenly, today, animals. That's when I discovered the option I set years ago is no longer in the menu. I reset the box and Wicked is back. But my menu still doesn't have the type option.

@Gammak Is this issue happening on multiple boxes or just one specific one? Have you restarted the cable box by removing the power from the device for roughly 30 seconds and attempting to change the setting again?

We have always had animals as the screen saver, then suddenly that was not available and all we could get was landscapes. Now it is all Wicked, and no option to change even to landscapes. Awful…I DO NOT WANT to see Wicked themes while listening to music. Awful….whoever thought of this needs to be reprimanded.

ATTENTION XFINITY... Are you listening to your customers?  Give us back the ability to choose our own screensaver or give us a blank screensaver but whatever you do STOP forcing Wicked on us. I think the movie is offensive and I do not want it on my TV as a screensaver or anything. As I've said before Xfinity is pushing me closer and closer to cutting the cable cord.

No one has an option to choose “screensaver type” at this time. Period……

2 Messages

Xfinity:  You have now been told MANY times in this thread.  Screensaver type is no longer offered as an option.  Please stop pasting old walkthroughs that no longer work.  Screensaver Type has to be enabled again.  This is terrible customer service that you're not even bothering to read the customers responses carefully.

Marcos… Like so many others have already said Screen Saver Type is not an option. It does not exist under Settings/Device Settings/Screen Saver.

I have the same problem with my screensaver and it all started with the wicked. Now the only thing I can get are the animals. There are no other choices as many other have also stated here. Has anybody been able to fix this? I was on the phone with Comcast For a long time and they don’t seem to know what the issue is. I do not like looking at those animals. I just wondered if this is some kind of a promotion for wicked and it will get changed or if this is what we are stuck with . Can anyone advise ?
