software update problem

My tv went into the first ever software update I'd ever seen and keeps failing and is stuck.  When I call support, they say there is an outage in my area.  Online it reports that my internet, tv and phone are all out but they are not.  I am thinking there is not an outage but that my system is stuck in this update.  Has anyone had this problem?
