Smart Resume

For a while now, smart resume doesn’t leave just a few seconds of the commercial, but leaves at least a minute of commercials.  How is this fixed?

the smart resume is not an 'exact science' and appears to be 'best we can do, so far' feature. If you have set your page up button to be 30 seconds, simply press page up 2 times.

@Rustyben It was an exact science. It was working properly. Like other people have commented, it’s now not working. I don’t believe this is a correct answer.

@user_91cdfa I agree. It has always worked perfectly but lately it absolutely does leave almost a minute of the commercial intact.

@Rustyben ‘best we can do, so far'?

Really? You don’t work for Comcast. So don’t say “we”.  Dumbest thing I’ve read.

Riddle me this….

I open the Xfinity Stream app, go to My Library then to My Recording.
I can watch any program from there and guess what??? Smart resume works perfectly.
But if I watch the same recording directly on my DVR, smart resume is off anywhere from 30 to 60 seconds.
Why?

Go ahead and give us the ‘best we can do, so far' answer.

If you use 2x vs 3x vs 4x fast forward speed the result of the 'skip' starts in different places.

@Rustyben I don’t know what you are talking about. I just hit the fast forward button and it goes through the commercials.  When it stops, there is about a minute left.

@Rustyben That is simply not true. We always use 3X or 4X and it always stopped 'after' the commercials and at the beginning of the the next segment of the show itself but lately it always starts before the last commercial is over.

I guess this is a YMMV issue. I often have to use the 30 second up arrow on remote to get 'into' show. after the skip rewind stops too early.

@Rustyben Have never had smart resume start too early until recently. We also completely lost Smart Resume recently. Something is broken.  YMMV....Your mileage may vary? HUH?

@Rustyben Well you are lucky not to lose any smart resume functionality but that does not help those of us with the issue now does it?

@R.Vicini I wish a Comcast employee rep would come on here and validate/explain/help with the phenom we are experiencing with the premature restart of the shows. Its a 100% fact that no matter which FF speed is used, the restart of any show is delayed a bit and its very annoying.

This problem started for us too, about a month ago for us here in the San Jose, CA area. Ugh

Smart Resume used to work perfectly no matter what speed you fast forwarded. For at least the last month it has stopped short of the program resuming usually 1-2 commercials. This seems to defeat the purpose. Not so smart anymore.

While an awesome feature I understand how frustrating the feature stops fast forwarding and starting too early before the show picks up again. If this is happening on all your recordings have you tired to turn off and then turn back on the feature? The link: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/dvr-smart-resume#:~:text=Smart%20Resume%20lets%20you%20easily,up%20once%20the%20break's%20over. is helpful in seeing how to turn off the feature and turning back on.

It is a mess right now. Something is off with it. On Discovery channel it is way off.
