small cable boxes have to be refreshed or unplugged

The small cable boxes will not connect with a tv show unless you unplug the cable first  and replug or do a total system refresh. I have spoken with a couple of reps who just want to refresh. URGH! I will be leaving comcast if it does not get its act together! What is the issue with the little boxes?

Is this a new install or new problem? Try unplugging all 5 and plug them in one at a time starting with the larger main boxes

Small boxes (assuming XiD, you can flip them over to get model), need a good, clean connection from the main box. Are there error messages? “Connecting to a tv show” doesn’t make much sense

Let me also mention that I have 4 of these small cable boxes and they are all acting a fool. The 2 larger boxes in my home are working just fine.

Sorry rambled earlier just so frustrated!!

Small box XiD-P

Turn tv on to a black screen then I push Guide to open a channel it takes me to a screen with 3 little dots highlighting with the channel listed like it is about to open, never opens. I push exit and it takes me to an error screen that says: "Sorry, we're having some trouble. A restart for all of your TV boxes can usually resolve many common issues. While the restart is in progress, you will not be able to watch TV and recording may be interrupted".

XRE-10007 is the error code

Not a new install, have had for years.  The problem started about 1 month ago with 1 small box intermittently and now all small boxes have the issue. I will try the suggestion made of unplugging....

Unplugged all boxes (big and small) as you suggested and plugged each back up starting with the 2 large boxes. All tv's so far now are working perfectly, no error message, not stuck on a kids channel, not asking for a restart. Thank you for your help. I pray that the fix sticks.

Mr. Andrew, I'm sorry to report that the unplugging fix only lasted through the night. When turning on the tv's with the small boxes this morning we are again experiencing the same issue with the channel just sitting on a black screen, like it's thinking about something.

Suprisingly, I received a call late yesterday from a comcast agent checking on my issue and confirming the appointment I have with an agent on Monday, while on the phone with him he mentioned seeing an issue with maybe the splitter capabilities??
