Setting up vizio tv

Can someone help me? I'm trying to set up a new vizio smart tv. I have my cable run from box to tv, but the TV does not recognize my channels. I cannot get the Xfinity app on the TV either. Thanks for any help!

Not much to go wrong here, marathoner. I have two Vizios and they work fine, of course. Just RF cable from the wall into your cable box (make sure it goes to the one labeled Cable In or like that). Then any HDMI cable (newer than about five years) from HDMI out on the box to the HDMI1 input on your TV. Then press INPUT on your Vizio TV remote until you get to HDMI1. You should see some setup or actual content screen from the cable box.

Thanks for the info. I finally got my Xfinity channels, but they are not HD. It is the HD cable I am missing. Never needed one with old TV. I will take care of that. Thanks again!

I think Comcast usually includes an HDMI cable in the box. Might save you ten bucks. If not Best Buy, etc. have them in many lengths. Just get a cheap one -- don't let a salesguy upsell you. Good luck.
