Set Channel Manual Recording Button Missing

Today the “Record” option when I click into every channel is just completely missing on all of my DVRs. I use this all the time to set a manual recording, and this is the first time it is not there for some reason. It is way more reliable to record this way for long events for the exact time I want than extending or doing any type of auto extend option.

Please advise, is this a temporary glitch that is going to be fixed soon?

Why did Xfinity eliminate manual recording

I said I would update my progress.

Second Tier Tech Support never called as promised.

I did get a survey request which I filled out.

I then got an email from ANGELO in customer service.
I replied with an email describing the issue.

NO RESPONCE.

I sent a follow-up email asking for status....NO RESPONSE.

I also made a formal complaint AND did a directed message to XfinityMarshante.

I will post what I learn.

WHAT I WANT:

A ticket number for the issue and a status update.

OR

A workaround that allows me to do what I have been doing for years.

Just to summarize...the responses from Official Xfinity Employees include:

"We can confirm that this is a known issue that our Engineers are actively working to resolve. There is unfortunately no fix in place at this time, but we hope that will change soon."

"I am sure our Engineers will work a way to get it back."

"There is a ticket open for this concern. So our engineers are working on it. I am sorry for any incorrect information that may have been provided. It is a known issue and our engineers are working on it."

"at this time there aren't any updates that we can provide. Our engineers are still working to resolve the issue. We truly appreciate your patience."

" It's difficult to say how long this will take to get resolved. What I can tell you is that our team is dedicated in finding the root cause of this problem and a permanent solution so that it doesn't happen again. I'm sure we'll make a huge announcement once we've resolved this. Until then, all we can do is wait."

"our engineering team is actively investigating. "

Hi, @GACSALY. I understand it can be frustrating waiting for a concern to be fixed. Some issues can take longer than others depending on what needs to be done to resolve it. What is there to fix?   AI said you disabled the feature on August 11.  To "fix" it, all you have to do is turn it back on.

Note that my message said I had already sent a direct message to XfinityMarshante.

FYI...

AI Overview
Xfinity officially removed the ability to perform manual, channel-based time window recordings on the X1 platform on August 11, 2026.

Same issue.  Apparently it's been removed for some reason.  It needs to be brought back.

Hi there. That is great feed back about the missing manual recording option. I will make sure to pass it down to our engineers.

Never got a response from ANGELO.

I got a response to my direct message.

I was told:

1) No ticket currently exists for this issue and no status or workaround is available.

2) They don’t know why the employees including XfinityBenjaminM, XfinityVictor, XfinityAirelle, XfinityBillie, XfinityRaul, and XfinityJeniece all said this was a known issue and was being worked on.  I asked if it made sense that all these employees were mistaken about this.  I was told they did not know why these employees would say what they said.

3) They did not attempt to contact any of the above employees due to “HR rules”.

4) They don’t know if the issue is being considered for development and there is no way to determine this.

5) They understand many customers want this feature back.

6) They don’t know if this feature was removed intentionally or not.

7) There is a document indicating this feature is no longer available:
https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/x1-record-a-program
“Channel-based recordings between designated start and end times are no longer available as of August 2026.”

8) They indicated that if they learned more regarding development for this issue they would let me know.
