Separate DVRs, same house
I am moving into an apartment soon with someone who already has an X1 whole home DVR setup.
When I move in, we would like to share the service, but have separate DVRs with separate recordings / schedules.
Is this possible on the X1? I don't want to mess with the service if all I have to do is get a separate DVR. I don't care about mobile or downloading shows on my phone...I really only care about in-home DVR.

correct. you might look into instead getting some version of TiVo as a second set top box. they have more tuners but no access to on-demand programming.

if you can obtain a 2 tuner legacy DVR then it would be separate in schedule and recordings. Some employees don't understand that you can have a legacy DVR on the same service with x1 video and internet.

The X1 system has a way to limit the view of recordings to ones recorded from a specific box so if you are both civil people you might make it work. However there is no way to enforce that - that is, if you want to watch and delete from the the default view of all recordings on all units it won't stop you. And, I think if you have 2 X1 DVRs they use the space on both as needed regardless of where you schedule the recording so one of you could get carried away and fill all the space.
