Saved episodes deleted in dvr

I just signed up for xfinity and scheduled a few shows to record 2 weeks ago. They were there last week and now several series of recordings are gone. My DVR has about 10 episodes in it so it is not full. All settings were to save until space is needed. What is happening?

Thank you for reaching out about the DVR recordings, @user_aba978. I moved your post from the Customer Service board to the X1 board to provide the best help for this issue. We will get this figured out. Have you checked in the recently deleted area of the DVR to see if you can recover any of your shows? Are you using the Xfinity Stream app or do you have a cable box with your service?

Our pleasure, @user_aba978! Does the bar for the DVR service show it is full? I know different customers have different levels of DVR service. The bar should at least reveal if the DVR thinks it is full.

This has been happening to me for years. It just randomly deletes saved recordings. I just lost Woodstock and Godfather II and they were not close to being my oldest recordings. There have been dozens of threads about this over the years and nothing has been done. I love the X1 so I put up with it but it is a downer

Good morning, @skintime. My name is Kim and I will be more than happy to assist today. Does the bar for the DVR service show it is full? I know different customers have different levels of DVR service. The bar should at least reveal if the DVR thinks it is full.

@skintime yeah I saw the posts and was really hoping for a solution because I refuse to pay for cable if this is how it’s going to work. It didn’t just delete 1 or 2 things, but like 6 of my favorite shows. I’ll cancel my service if it’s not fixed.. rcn never did this

@user_aba978 we do apologize for the issues you continue to encounter with the DVR experience, this is definitely not the experience we would like you to have.

First, I would like to clarify the equipment that you have?

Then I would like to let you know, as we work toward a resolve, any recently deleted program can be recovered until your TV Box's hard drive is full, at which time it will be automatically deleted. (It may take 24-48 hours to recover.)

  1. Press the xfinity button on your remote control.
  2. Use the arrow buttons to highlight Saved
  3. Use the arrow buttons to highlight Recordings then arrow down to Recently Deleted.
  4. Use the arrow buttons to select the deleted program to recover and press OK.
  5. Select Recover and press OK to restore the program

In addition, when you've scheduled in the past, have you encountered any scheduling conflicts, I ask this because, we've noticed, If you set up more than your maximum recordings that air at the same time, you may be presented with a conflict notification.

You can choose to record your new program and cancel the lowest priority program or just cancel the new recording request. The recording should also display an icon in the guide or program information to indicate it will not record. You can always see what will record in your Scheduled Recording list under the Saved menu

In additon,Storage Capacity: Currently, the X1 DVR can record approximately 150 total hours of HD programming on the hard drive and 150 hours of Cloud DVR storage per X1 DVR. You can purchase additional Cloud DVR storage hours by visiting https://comca.st/3PiygEr.

You can purchase additional Cloud DVR storage hours with or without DVR equipment in the home by contacting us. In some areas, you can upgrade your DVR service from your X1 TV Box by going to Main Menu > Saved > Recordings > Upgrade DVR Plan (located below the list of recorded programs).

  1. Select Get Started to review recording options.
  2. New monthly pricing will appear, along with the Terms and Conditions. Select Submit Order to complete your purchase.
  3. A confirmation Thank You! page will appear. Your new DVR storage should be available immediately after the upgrade is complete.

Note: DVR storage hours and menu screens such as current storage percentage (Guide > Saved > Recordings) may not update immediately but will shortly after you upgrade. Cloud recordings will initially differ from what's on your local hard drive. Any new recordings will be reflected similarly on both the cloud and TV Box.

@XfinityKimberlyB 31% full 93 recordings. This has been happening for years. Doesn't delete my oldest ones, just randomly picks ones out of the list. Sometimes I don't even notice but I noticed Woodstock and Godfather II recently and they are not even close to being my oldest recordings. Also a couple old fights I recorded off ESPN recently vanished too. I waited years for a shot to record Woodstock and I finally got it and it just disappeared. Recorded Godfather I, II, and III one right after another and only Godfather II disappeared. I'm not happy about it but I live with it because I love the X1 but it is pretty strange

I did notice something on mine the other day,@skintime . There are a couple of different settings when the request to record happens. On my X1, it says "until space is needed" and "1 year". Are all the recordings that are coming up missing for you, set for "1 year"?
