Replace Xi6 box with Coax connected 4K box

Hi,

I recently requested a 4K capable box to replace an XiD-P box so I can access 4K content and multi-view for sporting events. This is a secondary box in my home - the primary is an X1 DVR (XG1v4). In response to my request, I received an Xi6 box that connects either wirelessly or via ethernet through my home network. I have my own cable modem and router - I do not use Xfinity's gateway.

I have read that the Xi6 boxes do not play well with customer owned equipment. Additionally, the room in question is not wired with ethernet cable and it's wireless coverage is 't the best. Moreover, I'd prefer not to have the second box connect through my home network to complete with my other connected devices.

Is there any way that I can exchange the Xi6 for a 4K capable box that connects directly to the coax in the second room? Or am I stuck with choosing between the Xi6 and the XiD?

Any advice/assistance would be most welcome.

I was sent an Xi6 when I first ordered 4K and sent it back for a wired XG1v4.  We now have two of them along with two of the little HD boxes in other rooms.  So, no, you aren't limited to Xi6 for a second 4K set.

@BIslander Thanks.  Good to know. Do you get charged for two DVRs? Or can you get the second XG1v4 without DVR activated (and access DVR recordings from the primary box)?

We pay for all four boxes.

@BIslander Sorry, I wasn't clear.  With one XG1v4 and one XiD-P, I get charged a fee for each box, then an additional DVR service fee. Do you get charged for the DVR service for each XG1v4? Thanks.

I don't see any separate DVR fees on my bill.  Just $10 per box.

Interesting. Because I just went around and around with Support. Initially, they send no problem, they'll send me another XG1v4. What they actually did was send me another Xi6. When I contacted Support again, they told me I would have to pay $10 per box, and an additional $10 for DVR service on each XG1v4. I guess they have changed the way they are doing things. Shocking. This was giant waste of my time.

SmokeUpJohnny Thanks for reaching out to us here with your equipment questions! You can absolutely add a second 4k DVR to your account, you can stop by your closest Xfinity store to swap out the equipment, or you can send your current box back by mail, and we can ship you a DVR. If you would prefer that we send one to you by mail please send us a DM with your first and last name and full service address and we can get started on your order.
