Remote functions

My remote turns on my tv, audio receiver, and box just fine and control volume, functions, etc. However when turning things off it doesn’t turn the audio receiver off so I continue to get the audio from whatever I was watching.

Hello, @user_68d8a5. Thanks for reaching out to us with your power and audio concerns! Have you tried unpairing your audio receiver and then pairing it again using your remote?

If not, here are the steps for programming your Voice Remote to control your audio device:

  • Press and hold the Microphone (Voice) button and say, "Program remote."
  • You can also get there by going to the Settings page, selecting Remote Settings and then Voice remote pairing.
  • Or you can use our online Remote Code Lookup tool or the Xfinity My Account app.

If that doesn't resolve the issue, please let me know! We may have to access your account for some remote troubleshooting, which we are more than happy to do :)

@XfinitySara I tried the voice program my remote but that didn’t change anything. I then tried all the different codes supplied for a Yamaha audio receiver and none worked. Starting with all devices off as instructed, some would shut tv off but not receiver so I would still get tv audio thru the speakers. Some would shut every thing off, but when pushing power button to turn back on as instructed, some did nothing and some turned just the tv on. None turned the audio receiver back on. I should note that my system is set up to flow everything ( Xfinity tv box, DVD player, iPod dock) into the receiver, with only an hdmi going to the tv and activating it when video is needed. The receiver decides what goes out. Any help getting the x1 voice remote to both power on and power off my audio receiver would be appreciated.

Let me take a look for you--on some of the older style remotes, there was a series of buttons you could enter to pair everything up. Which X1 Voice Remote Model is it?

The XR15 or XR11? I put their images below if needed.

An image of an Xfinity Remote is displayed. The XR11 Xfinity Voice Remote features three rows of buttons above the large raised navigation buttons; the voice command button is the center button of the center row.

Thank you for those details, lets try doing a factory reset on the remote. Please follow these steps:

  1. Simultaneously press and hold the A button [triangle] and the D button [diamond] until the status light on the remote changes from red to green. This takes about 5 seconds.
  2. Press 9-8-1 on your remote to complete the factory reset. Once this is complete you can retry pairing your XR15 remote.

Let us know if that helps!

Nothing changed. To recap my system is set up so when power comes on the tv comes on, it sends Xfinity tv box signal to Yamaha audio receiver, which then comes on and sends video to the tv and audio to speakers. However when powering off it shuts off tv and then the audio receiver for a very short moment. The audio receiver then pops back on and I get audio from whatever channel I was watching out the speakers. My Logitech Harmony universal remote works everything as it is supposed to, but it doesn’t have any voice capability. Pretty disappointed in the X15 remote. I guess I will need to have 2 remotes handy to work the system and have voice capabilities.
