remote doesn't turn off/on TV

I just got a new LG 43" TV. I've gone through the television set-up and synced the remote so the TV volumn works with the remote but I can't get the remote to turn off/on the TV. I also have a SONOS hooked up which works with the volumn control also. Is this on/off a LG settings issue or is there another step for setting the X1 remote to control the TV power?

I just got the updated DVR and WiFi box a week ago.  The remote has been working fine until this afternoon.  After going thru all the numbers I was told to type in the setup, I got a message that the remote can’t be set up at this time.

Has it ever worked? Press A and go to Remote Setup and follow the prompts

  • A technician came on October 26 and exchanged my old DVR and WiFi boxes for the new X1.  The remote worked for a little over a week, it also doesn’t control sound.  This is an odd problem because some times it works and sometimes it doesn’t.  I have done the setup remote multiple times, refreshed the box once and restarted twice.  The 1st time I restarted the box, the remote worked after setting up, the 2nd time made no difference.  Yesterday afternoon it worked, this morning it doesn’t.  Could be box, could be remote?  Wondered if the crazy weather we’re having could be the problem.  I know I’ll have to call tech support, just putting it off

Yes I thought it might be, it’s just odd.  I will be requesting that this afternoon I think and see if that’ll work.  Thanks for your help

Sounds like the remote needs replaced(possibly tv remote sensor). The cable box or weather has no affect on the remote working your tv

My remote used to turn off my TCL TV and Denon receiver when I pressed the All Power button. Now it only turns off the Denon receiver. The TV button turns off the TV, and I can control the TV volume if I want.

I’ve reprogrammed the remote several times, but the All Power behavior doesn’t change. I have to press the TV button every time, after I press the All Power button. It’s been like this for 6 months, with no changes in connected equipment.

Remote: XFINITY XR11v2
A/V receiver: Denon AVR-2313CI
TV: TCL 55P605
Cable STB: XFINITY TV XG1-A, version AX013AN_3.2p10s1_PROD_set,
Release version 92.1.0.

I've stepped through all the codes, i have the tv attached to a sony surround sound and the remote works for the sony device but will not shut off the panasonic. After I set up the remote, step one sync w/ set top, two, sync w/ tv, three sync w/ sony. Once sync w/ the sony, the remote thinks the tv is a sony. is there a fix

Did you ever solve this problem? I just bought a new LG tv and am having the same issue. Remote works when I pair it to the TV, but once I pair it to the AV receiver, I lose the ability to turn the TV on and off with the XR15 remote.

Best fix. It worked on two different types of remote. Just choose the tv brand and follow the instructions. Very easy. Thank you.

Not clear if this was solved. I also have the TCL/Roku 55" and a Denon receiver. The all power button used to work turning on both units and turning off both units. When I program them now it will turn on both units but will only turn off the Denon receiver. The TV stays on.

When I initailly start programming, before I program the remote for the receiver it will turn the TV on and off. After programming the receiver then it starts the weirdness.

This was happening with our old boxes and we have just upgraded to the new 4k boxes with XR15 remotes and it is the same issue. We have 2 other setups in the house with sound bars and those work fine. One setup even has the same TCL tv but a sound bar instead of a receiver. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, @. Have you already attempted to go through the links shared on this post, such as this one--https://comca.st/3cjQiVy? Have you attempted to switch out the batteries, as well as unpair and repair the remotes?

I have same problem...new remote, new set up...Samsung frame tv plus bose sound bar.  I have re-paired numerous times.  Everything works fine except turning tv on and off.  It powers sound bar though.
