Started having same exact issue a couple days ago. Tried all suggestions including reprogramming/re-pairing Xfinity remote to my Sony TV, rebooting cable box, etc., but still could not get it to control TV power or volume. Son suggested trying to unplug/reboot the Sony TV which fixed the issue. :D You all may want to try that trick in addition to the other suggestions provided in this thread, as it worked for us with this particular TV.

Thank you for reaching out to us in our Forums. Sorry to hear your remote isn't working. I know there isn't much you can do without it. However, I can help you get a new one, so you are in the right place. You can either pick one up at a Xfinity store, if you live next one, or I can send you one in the mail. In addition, until your remote is replaced, you can download the Xfinity remote app to your smartphone which has many of the same buttons as your remote, and does many of the same requests.
