Remote Control Issues

I installed a Samsung NU70000 yesterday upstairs.  There is another Samsung on the first floor.  Tried pairing the xfinity remote to the child box upstairs but found that the pairing info shows up on the downstairs TV. When I try to pull up the guide, it pulls up the guide on the downstairs TV.  I seems that I cannot pair to or control the TV via the child box.

I'm using a XR15 remote upstairs.  The XR15 works fine on the downstairs TV.

Any ideas?  Do I need to purchase a universal remote that is not an xfinity product?

My issue appears to be resolved.  I reset both remotes and set the TV back to factory settings and started over after having unplugged the TV and satellite box for a couple of hours.  Instead of following the TV setup procedure, I paired the XR15 with the DiP-D with the remote about an inch from the satellite box.  I went downstairs where the three digit input was on the screen and exited out.  I just ignored the request.  Then I paired the Samsung remote with the TV.

Now the XR15 has full control of the DiP-D and the TV.  Hallelujah!!

Thanks to you both for helping me sort this out.

when the pairing command goes out any X1 box in range will respond. the remote will only 'pair' to the number displayed on the TV. when you began doing the pair did you get the pairing numbers on the screen of the set top box connected TV you were trying to work with? if not, what is the model number on that set top box?

If you’re just changing tv remote codes and the remote was previously paired you don’t have to mess around with an onscreen menu

I agree that it should work since the remote had been previously used with the same DiP-D, only a different TV.  Problem is it doesn't.

I'm able to turn the TV on and adjust volume only with the XR15.

when you press the xfinity button on the remote what LED color(s) on the remote blink?

No, I didn't get the three digit input on the TV screen I was trying to get to work, only the one downstairs.  The little box is a DiP-D.

When I press xfinity I get a solid green light on the remote.

Try holding the remote right up to the box face and try

solid green means it is connected to 'an x1' box and is in range and the box is responding. (else it would blink green/red).  find the TV that responds to that remote and bring back the remote from that TV to try on the one you are working on.

When I hold any remote directly in front of the DiP-D, I get nothing. That was with using all four of the remotes (two Samsung and two xfinity).  When selecting guide, the TV downstairs shows the guide.

I would have bought another brand of TV if I knew this was going to happen.  Frustrated.
