Recording and Smart Resume Issues

I am currently having trouble with recording times and Smart Resume. Each recorded program starts okay, but as the program reaches the first commercial break it shows that the program has overlapped what Smart Resume says is a commercial, and so using the Smart Resume the causes the program to resume playing before the show is set to start. This also effects the ending of the program because the timing is off so the last minute or so of each recorded program is cut off.

Hello @user_945196, thanks for reaching out to share your feedback with Smart Resume. There is currently an ongoing issue with Smart Resume functionality, where fast-forward is stopping around 30-40 seconds before the program resumes. This is a known issue with no timeline for resolution, but we are working to get this function back to normal

If you follow these steps:

Press the xfinity button on your Xfinity Voice Remote
Use the right arrow to go over to the Settings menu (gear icon).
Choose Preferences, then General.

Once here you should see an option called "Auto Pad Recordings", and you will want to make sure that is turned on. This will record a little extra time after each recording to make sure nothing is cut off. Also, this is the window you can go to to enable or disable Smart Resume. That patch solution with "auto pad" creates a problem where if you have (for example) three shows that are being recorded 8 to 9 and three shows being recorded 9 to 10, auto pad makes it where six shows are recording for the last few minutes of the first group, and the first few minutes of the second group.

This has been a problem with smart resume where you lose the end of shows.  Auto-pad isn't the greatest quick fix based on the situation I just presented.

Thanks for that information and your understanding as we are currently working to find a solution for this issue for all customers. As an Xfinity customer myself, I completely understand your concern and frustration throughout this inconvenience.  By recording only one show at a time, have you run into this issue before or only when its multiple recordings at once?

Smart Resume is cutting off the end of my recordings. NOT GOOD. Also having the commercials before and after.

Could you please send our team a direct message with your full name and full address? Our team can most definitely take a further look at this issue.

To send a "Peer to peer" ("Private") message:
Click "Sign In" if necessary
• Click the "Peer to peer chat" icon
• Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
• Type "Xfinity Support" in the "To:" line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list which appears. The "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line

The issue is on the Xfinity side as the Guide is not matching the broadcast.

Best solution for me is to edit the Series recording to end 3 min late.

@Tek We have been using auto pad settings enabled for over a year but along with having recently added 3 or even 5 minutes to important shows but Xfinity is still managing to truncate the last wee bit of some of those shows. You mileage may vary.
