Random DVR Recordings

My DVR is recording random shows that no one set to watch, and the content is not of interest to anyone in our household.

I have the same problem. I also noticed some shows are not correctly identified.

For example, I set a recording for "Perry Mason"  and the DVR records the show "In the Heat of the Night".

The DRV is also deleting shows it should not, and also recording shows completely out of the blue.

Something is broken in the guide, and/or how the program is identified in the code below the GUI the users see.

Greetings, @user_rovedt! I hope your week has been treating you well. Thanks so much for taking a moment out of your busy day to leave a post on our community forum about this DVR issue. You have definitely come to the right place for assistance.

Can you tell me a little more about what's happening? Is your DVR recording completely unprompted content, or is it recording the wrong content? Do you see any upcoming recordings that should not be there?

@XfinityJamesC Thanks for reaching out. The DVR is recording completely unprompted content. I do not see any upcoming recordings that should not be there either.

Thank you for getting back to me, @user_rovedt. I used to get these random recordings on my DVR that made no sense. Specifically, my DVR would record Mission Impossible 2 every time it aired. The first time it happened, I thought maybe I recorded it by accident, so I just deleted it. A few weeks later, it recorded it again. Then, it recorded it three times in a row. I couldn't figure out why it kept recording that particular movie. Then, I realized there was a song in the soundtrack by a musical group I searched for years ago, then selected the "auto-record" option to record anything featuring them. Mission Impossible 2 must have had the group listed in the description somewhere, so it kept getting recorded.

In my case, however, the movie did appear in my upcoming recordings, so this may be something else. You can still check your settings under the "Saved" tab to see if you have any random auto-record keywords or favorites in there, just in case, but this could also be a good old-fashioned technical error. How often is this happening? Do you get multiple recordings a day, or is it sporadic and random?

I have the same problem with the Justice Central channel. It records shows I have never scheduled and titles those shows In the Heat of the Night, which I did schedule a couple weeks ago. All other scheduled recording on other channels is accurate. The DVR will not allow me to “cancel future rd ordings” on the unwanted programs. Comcast has been no help - tried Cust Svc by phone, went to store, had Tech here. No solution!!

hp123456 To confirm, are you trying to remove the show you didn't want by it's name, or by the name you did set that isn't the show you wanted?

I have to chime in here and include my complaint about the same issue.  I have been reading forum messages from as far back as three years ago.  I was going to change my passwords for the router and Xfinity account, but after reading the Community Forum messages, my thought that another person has been hacking into my account is now changed to believing this issue is an internal, systemic issue.  Is there a solution to this issue yet?
