POWER SAVER mode will NOT turn off

I see others have asked the same question bt no answers. How can I turn off the Power saving mode on the X1? Even though it says its off, my TV still goes into power saving mode. Why does XFINITY care if its on or not. My Wife and I are TV fanatics and have to have the TV on during the night. When it goes in to the power saving mode it wakes us up. PLEASE HELP!!!!

Reminder is also a joke. Other cable companies have reminders that turn the station for you but XFINITY just has a pop-up. Doesn't help during the night.

Seems like XFINITY is behind in technology.

Good morning @ and thank you so much for reaching out to our Digital Care Team on our forums page! My husband and I leave the TV on during the night as well so I can understand your frustration! I have included the following link with instruction on how to manage your power preferences on X1. Please let us know if you continue to experience troubles with this or have any further questions or concerns. :)

@XfinityAlyssaA the replies to this issue by comcast employees is an absolute joke. You are giving us instructions on how to turn on power saving mode as if you arent even actually reading the posts. Everyone with this complaint is fully capable of their own of turning their power saver modes off and on.

My low power mode is OFF, my screen saver is set for 5 hours. Yet still even WITH POWER SAVER MODE OFF. I STILL get a notice saying “no activity for 4 hours. Will go to sleep in 5 minutes. To change this, go to power settings”

i go to power settings like it says, where i find NOTHING to help. Just a button that already says low power mode OFF.

its so frustrating to pay you guys 200+ dollars a month. For 5-10-15 years. For this   Multiple people have a legitimate issue. An issue we feel like its worth going to another provider over. You know.. DISH has a specific commercial right now showing how your tv goes all night for your scared dog. The mentality of “well their kids might not like silence and dark. Their dogs might need noise at night or while they are at work.. but our job is to save their electricity bill money!! They need it to pay us!!” Is so disgusting. This is 100% an issue i am willing to leave xfinity and xfinity mobile over. Please get your business together and fix the issues the people who pay your employees have.

I agree 100% with Tworkmom94 response. Notice how the second sentence of every Xfinity response always offers sympathy by saying they too enjoy TV without power save.   I’ve been reading several forums and seen 10-15 different responses and it’s always the same without fail. First sentence: thanks so much for your question. Second sense: i too like tv uninterrupted [insert cookie cutter fake example here].

Whoever is not a robot at xfinity should be put in jail. You guys are the worst.

@Tworkman94

here we are 2 months later and nothing but crickets in response to your excellent description of the problem, rendered down into concise easy to understand format.  When I call to cancel and get sent to "retention" that conversation is going to be lit.  Bet they don't have any verbiage in their script for this issue where trying to get someone to not cancel is concerned.

This process DOE NOT WORK. I am trying to turn it off. It says its off but still goes into sleep mode after 4 hours. There has to be a way to remove this!

There are two modes for your TV Box when there has been no activity for four hours. Power Saver Mode, which conserves your power, and Nap Mode, which does not save power. Your TV Box will automatically go into Nap Mode after four hours of inactivity if you do not have Power Saver on. At this time, there is no way to turn off Nap Mode. Please click here to our FAQ. If you need any further help, please feel free to reach out at anytime!

I no longer work for Comcast.

So we can activate the option to turn our box off after 4 hours. And that saves us power. Or we can chose to NOT have that, and the box automatically turns off anyways, but DOESNT save electricity as if to punish us for wishing to do things our own way?? If you are going to make the decision on your own to turn the tv off from someone who even simply might not be able to find the remote in that moment.. or needs batteries. Why in the world give us the option to not do it?

When you reframe what the comcast employee just explained above like that it really shines a bright light on how insane that sounds.  The correct answer should be we know this is an issue and our best software engineers are working on a fix.   This is a priority and we appreciate your patience.  Instead we get a statement that sounds like a crazy person in charge over there.

@XfinityKorie

Please reread what you wrote above then come back here and explain how that makes a lick of sense?  We don't need to read a FAQ.  We need Comcast to make powersaver not go into "nap" mode when you have that setting turned to off.  The statement above sounds like the utterings of a deranged person.  Not saying you are deranged, as I'm sure you are just reading from a script, but it doesn't sound logical at all.

@user_f1588d  What make/model TV do you have?  Are you sure the TV doesn't have a setting that puts it into sleep mode after 4 hrs?

This would be great to be able to have the X1 box on all the time with out going into NAP or SLEEP mode.  I do not understand why you would have it goto NAP or SLEEP mode after 4 hours. I know this frustrates many people.   Another MAJOR isuue is the REMIND issue. IT would much more benificial to CHANGE the channel when the times up. Other cable companies have this feature. I have been a software developer for the past 20 years, I know whats involved and its not that difficult

Hi, Did you have any luck fixing the power save mode as I have the same issue. I would think anyone with a pet has a problem with this issue too as I leave my tvs on for my cat while I am at appointments all day and now the power save mode kicks in and leaves her with no sound or picture. I also leave mine on at night too as you do and it wakes me as well when I just finally fall asleep.Thanks for your time.

it could very well be a daily update, since they are set to run at 4 in the morning. Since you said power saver mode it off, try going to Settings>Preferences, then changing the time for the daily update to a time when you aren't sleeping or watching tv.

@BHelms07  updates has nothing to do with this. I have the updates take place near noon time. Plus I've tried every option to try and get this to work. I've chatted many times to the people online and they say it should work, I called tech support and they told me that they know this option doesn't work and no fix is available at this time

I completely agree that this needs to be fixed. We should not be forced to take an action while we are actively watching tv so the stupid box won't go into sleep mode. I have the tv on while I'm cleaning and all of a sudden, I hear the program I'm listening to go quiet. I have to stop, go find the remote and turn everything back on. This is the dumbest feature EVER. I also agree with the user that leaves it on for her pets during the day only to have it time out. Is Comcast not pet friendly?! Stop turning our service off! I will turn it on and off.... Stop making that decision for me. I pay to watch tv. Let me watch it in peace. There should absolutely be an option to disable this idiotic nap function without having to click a button for proof of life every 4 hours.

@Saffee00

Its doubly infuriating regarding leaving the TV on for pets given that you can choose a package for a TV station designed for your dog.  The fact the TV will go off every 4 hours no matter what you do makes paying for that channel a huge rip off.

At the top right of this page click the message icon.  When the next page comes up click the pencil and paper icon.  In the "to:" line type "Xfinity Support".

Type your complaint at the bottom of the window.  I have been dealing with these people for several days.  In the end they told me they will report the issue.  We need more people complaing directly to them instead of each other.

Also, go to this link and let Tom, Chief Customer Experience Officer your displeasure

@sandpiper2319

I've done all that.  I even sent a email, respectful in tone, to the CEO.  The folks trying to help solve this issue for me, and I know they are just doing their job, were obviously just reading from a script.  They sent a signal to my box, and when that didn't do anything sent me a new box.  After that they tried to suggest it was some setting on my TV and not related to their equipment.  Then they offered to "send a technician to my house".

I firmly believe, and tried to get them to understand, that this is a software problem/design flaw on their end.  It isn't a hardware problem.  The fact the unit "naps" even when you have the power setting turned to "off" makes no sense.  It turns off if you have the power setting on, it turns off if you have the power setting off.  The issue is further murky because their screen saver function is also impossible to turn off.  At first I thought this was a screen saver issue and my tv was turning off because of the screen saver (I had it set to the longest time 5 hours).  Turns out it doesn't have anything to do with the screen saver.  You can set it to 5 minutes and when the screen saver turns on you can at least still hear the programing.  Every 4 hours the box goes into "nap" mode where it switches to your screen saver and turns off all sound.  Even if you set screen saver to 5 minutes the screen saver will activate in 5 minutes and then you'll hear just the audio for 4 hours until the nap feature engages.  It is beyond infuriating.

I actually got a call back from a human after sending my email to the CEO.  I explained the issue above.  They didn't seem too keen on doing anything about it.  This issue has been going on for years.  It doesn't seem to be a priority for them to resolve.  I'm already researching alternate TV provider options.  When my side of the agreement is up I'll be cancelling and going elsewhere for my TV needs.  (I haven't slept longer than 4 hours since I hired them as my tv provider because my eyes pop open when my box goes into nap mode.  Waking up, fumbling for the remote to hit "exit, then trying to get back to sleep has gotten old).

XFINITY doesn't seem to care about the customer base. What will it hurt for them to actually turn on the option in order to turn off the timer. SOOO many people would love to have this option )or at least disable the timer completely and have the box on all the time. ALSO... What good is the REMINDER option if it doesn't do anything. PLEASE have it actually change the channel for you. I myself along with many others have been talking about this and would love to have it change the channel automatically. I know Verizon FIOS does and Spectrum do this. You have the option to cancel the option once it pops up or just leave it and it will change the channel.

Come on XFINITY listen to the users!
