Power On Startup Destination

When I power on my Xfinity X1 XG2v2-P TV box and my LG 43LF5900 smart TV (together with my X1 remote), the startup destination is inconsistent.  If I was watching TV, the last channel being viewed will be the startup destination which is OK.  If I was running an app such as Pandora music when I shut the box/TV off, then the startup destination is inconsistent.  Sometimes the Pandora app will be the startup destination but other times the last TV channel I was watching starts up.  I switch to the Pandora app before shutting down for the evening so when I power on in the morning, hopefully the Pandora app will start.  This is not always the case and I have to quickly switch from TV viewing to the Pandora app which is what I want in the morning.

Anybody know why this might be happening or how to lock in what was running at the time of power off to be running at power on?

The X1 boxes do something at night to check for updates - probably when they get one they restart and forget what was left running.   You can just say 'start pandora' to the voice remote for a quicker way to get back to it.

are you unplugging the power? since that is an internet app (using CAP data), I'd leave the app before turning off the TV.

I am hitting the power button on my remote, NOT unplugging the power. Are you saying you think the app might continue to run after powering off, using data? Can someone from Comcast chime in here?

x1 power button on remote does not power off the device. if programmed it turns off the TV and if programmed, the audio receiver/sound bar.  you can test this by using the power button, then use your TV remote to turn on just the TV and see what is on the screen.

So apparently the Pandora app continues to run on the TV box and if it is still running when I power my TV on, it continues.  But sometimes, the app stops running on the TV box while the TV is off and when the TV comes back on, the box defaults back to watching the last TV channel instead of the app I had running.  Sounds like a feature request.

Yes, when I power on the TV using its remote, the Pandora app is still running.  I paused it with my X1 remote and then powered off the TV.
