Pausing a program for longer than 10 minutes?

Is there a setting I can use to keep a paused program paused for longer on the X-1 box? I can't find anything in the settings. In other words, we'll be watching a show on Amazon Prime (not live TV), pause it, and then ten minutes or so it goes back to live TV (CNN or whatever the last live TV channel we were on. Can we pause the program for longer before it goes back to live TV? I'd like to be able to set my elderly mother up with a show but too often it goes back to live TV before she's ready and then I have to get out of bed late at night and set it all up again. She simply gets confused about how the X1 Box works and can't seem to master it. Thanks!

@TracyRBall, thank you for reaching out to our Communities Forum page for assistance with your X1 features recently! In this case, your question seems to be regarding a feature within the Amazon Prime app, which isn't something we have control over through the x1 boxes. You would need to contact Amazon's Prime app support to see if there's a better answer to this question.

For live TV and setting the pause feature, the maximum length of time I was able to find is 25 minutes, which is based on equipment capabilities. I hope this information is helpful. If there's anything else we can do to help, please don't hesitate to let us know!

Hi. I know I'm late to this thread but I was just searching this same topic for myself because the 10 minute pause limit is really frustrating to me as well. And I'm writing specifically to advise that it is NOT solely happening on the Amazon Prime app. It happens on my DVR recordings as well. I can tell you that it just started as of my transfer of service/new install on 6/3/21 when my X1 DVR was upgraded to the latest model. I used to have the large DVR box (like VCR size) and my recordings stayed paused much longer. Now that I have this small new X1 DVR, pause only lasts 10 minutes even on DVR recordings. I'm experiencing the issue right now. So could you please advise if XFINITY can remove our increase this pause time limit? Thanks!

Hi! All X1 DVR's, including the new Xg1v4, have the ability to pause and rewind live TV up to 60-minutes. This is a running tab though, and if you're pausing and watching TV, without catching up to live TV from time to time, the amount of time you can pause shortens. Pressing 'Exit' on the remote twice brings you to current live programming. For instance;

Pause show at 1:00pm until 1:10pm, resume watching TV = 50mins of pause time left

Pause show again at 1:30pm until 2:00pm, resume watching TV = 20mins of pause time left

Press 'Exit' twice until watching currently schedule programming, pause time reset = 60mins of pause time recalculates

Let me know if this helps! I sometimes forget to tune back into current programming when I go to sleep at night and have run into this a few times. If it still isn't resolved, one of our regular Contributors, BruceW, has noted this can sometimes be a result of CEC being 'on'. You can press the Xfinity button on your remote, navigate to 'Device Settings', then 'Power Preferences' and finally switch 'HDMI Device Control' to OFF.

Give us a shout if that still doesn't resolved the issue, we can pull your account and equipment via a private chat and make sure all the settings are shiny on the back end.

He was talking about "recorded" programs. I have the same problem. If I pause a recorded program for 5 or 10 minutes it jumps to live programing of whatever channel it's currently set on.

Hi, user_7b5e47. Is this on all recordings or just some? Do you know if the recordings you're playing back when you notice this are Cloud DVR recordings? https://comca.st/3jEJs12.

I no longer work for Comcast

It sucks. I used to be able to pause for 30 mins and rewind an hour on my Tmobile tv. Thinking of switching back again because 10 mins with no capability to rewind sucks!
