paused recordings automatically switch to live tv after 10 minutes

I’m aware that this problem has been mentioned in several previous posts, but Xfinity has refused to fix it, even though the company has clearly been aware of it for years. My hope is that the more customers complain about it publicly and officially, the more likely it is that Xfinity will finally address this frustrating design flaw, which is this:

When a recording remains paused for approximately ten minutes, the Xfinity DVR automatically closes it and switches to the last live channel. This is extremely disruptive, particularly when watching a recorded sporting event on delay. The live channel can immediately reveal the score or final result and ruin the entire recording.

A DVR should never switch to live programming without the viewer requesting it. Xfinity should add a setting that allows customers to disable or extend the timeout. At the very least, the system should display the screensaver, the Saved menu, or another neutral screen instead of live television.

Having to remember to switch to an unrelated “safe” channel before watching every recorded sporting event is an unacceptable workaround. This problem has been reported for years. Xfinity’s product-development team needs to finally address it.

user_sip8w9 Thank you for taking time out of your day to bring us your concern about paused recordings reverting back to Live TV. This is the way our equipment is programmed and it's working as expected, although I can agree that it can be jarring when it comes back on and I'm not expecting it. I'm easily startled, so I try to put the volume on mute when I'm pausing a recording to walk away for a moment.
