Paramount+ app won't stream on my cable box

I signed up for Paramount+ this morning. When I launch the Paramount app on my xfinity box, the app opens up, but very slowly. When I choose a program to watch, the screen just goes black. I went to the cable box Settings then to Privacy and cleared the cache, then powered the box down for ten minutes (unplugged it from the wall and co ax cable.) Powered the box back up, re-logged into the Paramount app, and when I chose a show the screen just goes black again. Now what? Please help?

user_5hi4c0 Thanks for taking the time to post on our Community Forums. Have you checked to see if you run into similar issues with the Paramount app on other devices? Does it show an error message or code before or after the screen goes black?

Yes. It works fine on my laptop.

I called Xfinity tech support and they recommended a new X1 box. I went down and picked up a 'new' one and swapped them out, but the problem persists when trying to stream live events on the Paramount app on the X1 box.
