Pairing to my DVR

I have the xr15 voice remote. It will not pair to my RNG200N DVR. Is this a problem?

It will not pair with that device, that remote is for X1 devices.

It should work if you can figure out which button combination to use to enter Setup mode. See https://forums.xfinity.com/t5/Non-X1-Service/Upgraded-to-an-XR2-remote-and-its-not-working/m-p/3228537#M194348.

Your link is for an XR2 remote, not XR15 and a totally different type of box. As posted above, it’s not going to work. XR15 is an X1 remote, RNG200 isn’t an X1 box.

Surely it can’t. X1 boxes and remotes are paired together for voice commands to work, the X1 box displays a 3 digit code for the pairing process. The RNG200 has no voice commands nor the ability to show the 3 digit code.

If an XR2 can control an ancient Scientific Atlanta 4250C, surely an XR15 can control a newer RNG200N?

Has anyone resolved this problem yet, as I am having same issue. My remote stopped working. Went in received new remote xr15 which is different and they stated it would work. DID NOT WORK!! So now what. How do I get it to work now hours and 2 days later no help from xfinity as they said it would  work.

The XR15 remote is for the newer X1 cable boxes that have the voice feature enabled and access to internet services and platforms. If your cable box is an older RNG model box, it will not work with the XR15 remote, and you will need to update your box, or get a non-X1 remote. Your box can be swapped at no cost to you at your local Xfinity service center, or we can help with getting it replaced with a self-install kit shipped right to your doorstep in 3-5 business days. If you would like some assistance with changing out your box or getting a compatible remote, please send a private chat message with your first and last name and service address to help us get started.
