No sound from X1 box
Installed new X1 box using HDMI. Good picture, NO sound. I disconnected the HDMI cable from the X1 box and plugged into my HDMI DVD player with movie playing -- Good picture, GOOD sound. This verifies my system is not the problem. Disconnected from DVD player and connected back into X1 box -- Good picture, NO sound. The fault is in the X1 box. Are there settings in the X1 box I can check/adjust? Thanks.

Rustyben, thanks for replying!
In answer to your question, of course, I've tried all three settings - 'Stereo', 'Auto Detect' and 'Expert Mode'. Here's my home setup: HDMI cable from cable box to my SHARP TV HDMI input. Then, digital optical audio output from my SHARP TV to my surround sound system. This setup has worked great for years with the old Motorola cable box. This setup does not work for the new, slimline XG1v4-A cable box.
Therefore, I had to trade that cable box in for the larger XG1 cable box. This box has its own digital optical audio output port on it, which I feed to my surround sound system. The XG1 box has an extra device setting, 'Digital Audio Output', which I set to, 'Dolby Digital 5.1'. It works great, now!
It is my considered conclusion that neither the Arris XG1 box nor the Arris XG1v4 box provides Dolby Digital 5.1 over the HDMI interface. Or, at least, the Dolby Digital data is prevented from entering my SHARP TV directly over the HDMI interface. However, since the XG1 box has a separate digital optical audio output I can use that to successfully connect my system.
You may want to forward this message to the Xfinity Engineering Department.
Otherwise, consider this issue closed. Thanks for your help.

plugged into the TV HDMI port? did you try voice command 'device settings' >> audio >> HDMI audio output. is it on auto detect? stereo? expert mode? try the different settings? do you have an audio device (receiver/soundbar?)
