New equipment installation

I recently changed my cable TV plan and was given one X2 box and two X1 boxes.  Does the X2 box have to be installed first for the X1 boxes to function propoerly?

Currently the old main box is working with the new plan and somewhat reluctant to disconnect and lose all TV.  I have tried to connect the X1 boxes but end up with the RDK-03036 error code.  I have tried to resolve this via the phone with Xfinity but no luck.  Any help would be apprciated.  Thanks.

For clarification, they are all X1 boxes. Do you mean XG2 and Xi boxes? If so XG2 first, then Xi. Do you have a cable amp or just splitters?

Thanks for the response.  My mistake, it is an XG2 not X2 and my cable is provided to the TVs by splitters.  Sounds like the XG2 must go first for the X1s to function properly.
