Need my TV to stay ACTIVE!!

I'm really tired of the non-answer that Comcast keeps giving about this [Edited: "Language"] feature. The issue MANY of us are having is that our tv goes inactive on its own without some kind of intervention from us. All Comcast does is keep pointing out that there are two modes with the box... Power Saving mode and Nap Mode.

Let's be clear, I could get a [Edited: "Language"] what the different modes are called. I need to know how to ensure my tv doesn't go inactive in its own.

When I follow the "awesome link" given by the representatives, it takes me to a place that tells me that, regardless of what my settings are, my tv will not stay active and will automatically go inactive after 4 hours unless I intervene. Here's a portion of the link:

Your TV Box will automatically go into Nap Mode after four hours of inactivity if you do not have Power Saver on. If Power Saver mode is on, you will see an "Are You Still There?" message on your screen. If you do not respond to this message, your TV Box will go into Power Saver mode.

.

What this means is that either way, my tv will go inactive. We aren't asking customer service to DEFINE the two settings. What we are asking for is to STOP our box from automatically going inactive altogether.

This is what is infuriating. Many of us like to sleep with the tv on. Many of us want to  leave the tv on during the day for our pets. Many of us want to leave the tv on as background noise while we do our day to day things around the house. We need it to simply STAY ON.

So... HOW DO WE GET OUR BOX TO STAY ON AND NOT INACTIVATE ITSELF?!

Thank you for using our Community Forums to reach out about this concern. Now that you know about the two modes you can turn the Power Saver mode off to avoid the "Are you still there?" message which then leads to the box turning off for saving power.

You can turn off power saver mode by performing the following:

To access Device Settings:

  1. Press the Xfinity button on the remote.
  2. Highlight Settings (gear icon) and press OK.
    • Note: If your remote doesn't have an OK button, press the raised button in the center of the directional pad.
  3. Use the down arrow on the remote to highlight Device Settings and press OK
  4. Use the down arrow to highlight Power Preferences and press OK.
  5. Use the down arrow to select Power Saver. Press OK to turn the feature On or Off

So if I turn this off, will my tv continue to stay active until I physically turn it off or will it still automatically go into nap mode and inactivate itself?

I know how to turn the power Saving mode off. It's off. My tv still automatically goes inactive after a period of time. That is my problem.

I have the same problem. I just want my tv to stay on until I physically turn it off myself.

Thank  you  for reaching out to the Xfinity forums. The TV box will not turn off completely unless manually done.

Power Saver is a feature that saves you money by reducing the amount of energy your TV Box uses by automatically powering it down when it's not in use. You'll know when your X1 TV Box is powered down because the green/blue/white power light on the front panel of the device will be off. (When the green/blue/white power light is on, the device is powered up.)

There are two modes for your TV Box when there has been no activity for four hours. Power Saver Mode, which conserves your power, and Nap Mode, which does not save power.

Your TV Box will automatically go into Nap Mode after four hours of inactivity if you do not have Power Saver on. If Power Saver mode is on, you will see an "Are You Still There?" message on your screen. If you do not respond to this message, your TV Box will go into Power Saver mode.

When you wake up your TV Box from either mode, you’ll see a “Welcome Back” message on the top of your screen.

power savings depend to a large degree on how much time the device is powered down. To maximize your savings, always power down your TV Box when you are done watching TV. You can do this simply by saying "power down" into your Xfinity Voice Remote. Alternatively, you can get your TV Box to automatically power down when it's not in use. If this process is not done the box will not turn off it will go into Nap Mode.

At this time these are the current features for the TV boxes.

We dont need you to keep pasting the [EDIT: LANGUAGE] answer.  It clearly is trying to avoid saying that we have NO control anymore for shut down!!   The [EDIT: LANGUAGE] is it even  admits they cannot prove this saves power.

But we pay big $$ to Comcast for our cable TV signal.  It should be our choice to have it stay on as long as we want.

Otherwise...they NEED TO GIVE REFUNDS if not gonna allow override.   Let us know who and how to contact higher up  for action.  Thanks

I agree I have the same problem with flex tv and the power saver mode. I spoke to a comcast It person who stated if I turn off the power saving mode it will not go to into the power saving mode. getting ready to cancel all of my comcast services.

We all need to DEMAND $50 monthly REFUNDS!  We all pay big$$ to comcast to have cable TV that does NOT shut off.

Comcast will NOT listen until it starts to hurt their pockets.  They clearly tried to keep us in dark about this [Edited: "Language"] feature.  We all NEED to speak up and push for refunds until they add way to disable this.
