Missing Recording

I recorded and watch a whole season of a tv show, which I then specifically did not delete so I could easily go back and watch it while still being able to fast forward. For some reason I go to watch the show which I recored the whole season of, and episodes 1-8 are missing. How do I recover these missing episodes? There is no way that they were accidentally deleted because I am the only user of this function. Please let me know ASAP. This is really very inconvinent and totally defeats the purpose of keeping the whole season since now I can't watch it even.
