Greetings, @Biff-Tannon! I hope your week has been treating you well. Thanks so much for taking a moment out of your busy day to leave a post on our community forum about your cable box. You have definitely come to the right place for assistance.

If you currently have the RNG150 as your primary cable box, it will most likely be replaced with an XG2. If you are using it as a secondary or additional box, then it could either be replaced with an Xi1, XiD, or one of the new wireless boxes.

If you could send our team a direct message with your full name, the name listed on the account (if different), and the service address associated with your account, I'd be more than happy to look into this for you.

To send a Direct Message, please click on the “Direct Message” icon in the top-right corner of the screen, next to the bell icon, click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon, then type or select "Xfinity Support". Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window and press Enter to send your message and initiate a live session.

JamesC,

I ordered the new box yesterday on channel 1995. It is very important that our programmable universal remote controls work with the new box so I'm crossing my fingers there. Our programmable universal remotes have worked flawlessly with our current X1 box and our previous Motorola box.

The reason I asked which box I would receive is to try and determine if our programmable universal remotes will work with it.

JamesC, in your signature box it says "We ask that you post publicly so people with similar questions may benefit from the conversation". From what I've seen in these forums you guys ask the poster to send a direct message which is private and the resolution is rarely shown.  How can people benefit when they cannot see how you resolved the issue?

How long does it take to get the new box? I made the request 6 days ago. Does it normally take more than a week?

 Thanks

New cable box arrived two days ago, an XG2v2-P along with an XR15 remote. I hate to keep complaining here but I don't care for the box and I really extremely don't like the XR15 remote.

As far as I can tell, the new cable box is RF (radio transmission) only and all of our current devices, including our RNG150N cable box are IR (infrared transmission). My wife and I both have our own personal universal learning remotes which are IR (Infrared transmission). All of our devices are programmed into these remotes, including the RNG150N cable box. Everything works great with our current RNG150N box and only require one remote to control all devices.

Our universal remotes will not work with the new XG2v2-P cable box so we will be forced to use at least two different remotes to control the TV and cable box.

Who came up with the idea to change format from Infrared to radio frequency controlled boxes and force this change on the users? If there is a way to control the XG2v2-P with a universal Infrared remote, please let me know?

Now for the XR15, I can get it to turn on/off and adjust the volume on the TV and that's about all I can get out of it with the TV. I tried it with RNG150N box and it does perform some functions but the select button in the middle that does not select anything is not one of those functions.

Note: I have not hooked up the XG2v2-P and will continue to use the RNG150N as long as it works with our channel lineup and On Demand.

Thanks for any input you can offer to this thread!

Those are great questions, the new cable box is Aim Anywhere radio frequency (RF). We aren't able to offer support for the universal remotes you and your wife use, so I am truly sorry for any frustration caused by the new equipment.

Thanks Billie!

Please recommend a universal RF/IR remote that will work with the X2 box.

For the best experience we do recommend our awesome, award winning Xfinity Voice Remote. We wouldn't be able to make a recommendation on other remotes as we don't provide support for those.
