"Mark Watched" Lists

I watch a lot of content and am pretty meticulous when it comes to marking the things I watch as "Mark Watched" via your service. Sadly, many of the movies I designate as "watched" will revert back to a unwatched status at some point. Initially I thought that Xfinity enforces a limit to the number of movies that you can designate as "watched" but I no longer feel that this is the case. Movies tend to bounce around in terms of where they can be viewed. Some movies leave services like Netflix and move to the studio to rent/buy. Others jump from one streaming platform like Hulu to another like Amazon Prime. I also notice that many movies will show up more than once late at night when movies are available via multiple platforms. Eventually the multiple listing will consolidate back to one entry but the "watched" status will default back to "unwatched". Oddly, if I had previously designated the movie as a "favorite" that status will carry over. If I have watched a movie I have watched it...end of story. Please stop resetting the status to "unwatched" just because the film moved from one platform to another. I have to reclassify dozens of movies every single day due to this error. What is the point of maintaining watch lists at all if you are going to reset stuff to unwatched anyway? It is so annoying that I am considering to switch providers. I do not like spending time trying to utilize features that arbitrarily override my input and force me to duplicate effort.

I don't think there is a way for Comcast to mark a show/movie as watched if the show moves to a different channel or platform.  One thing I do is set up a recording for the "ABC" show and then I specifiy the channel, say channel 400.  If that show gets moved to channel 356 (meaning they are likely all repeats) then it will no longer record them.

Having said that, the watched/unwatched feature is faily useless.  There are lots of complaints online about shows that were marked as "watched" becoming "unwatched" when the box reboots or when there is a half-moon, or whatever.   I've given up on it. When I used TiVo this worked seamlessly but those days are long gone.

I wish Comcast would just admit that this fearure is buggy as h e l l and remove it until they can get it right.

Sorry.

Amen brother, I wish Comcast would just admit it as well. The weird thing about this is that if I marked the movie as a favorite then it stays that way. Therefore, maintaining the "watched" status as it moves to/from different providers shouldn't be rocket science because they're already doing it with items marked "favorite". You can kinda see what they're doing really late at night. If you go to the movies section in the On Demand menu really late at night (especially after midnight on Sunday going into Monday) and sort the list by A-Z you will see many movies that have two or more tiles. Some are just Spanish equivalents which I'm not talk about here. Others have multiple tiles for each service provider. If a movie moved from HBO to Cinemax you will see both tiles for a bit before the HBO one is blown away.

They could fix this if they wanted to but refuse to listen unfortunately.

Interesting insight, Matt.  I will give favorites a try. Thans!
