Main menu no longer has the guide option.

The main menu no longer has an option for “Guide”. Instead it now has “Sports” where “Guide” used to be. Was this intentional? If so why? Not all of us care about easy access to sports but we all do use the guide.

I am also having this same problem. I do not watch sports but I often use the Guide option. I contacted Xfinity but received no help. This is very frustrating.

Hello @user_n9qvqg. Thank you for reaching out on our Community Forum. I know how frustrating it is when your equipment is not working properly. If your guide button is not working on the remote you may need your remote replaced.

Please send us a direct message with your full name and address so that we can assist you further.

To send a "Direct Message" to Xfinity Support:

Click "Sign In" if necessary

Click the "Direct Messaging" icon or  https://forums.xfinity.com/direct-messaging

Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there

- As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list

- An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line

Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

Press Enter to send it.

Sorry @oliveparty it was an intentional change, you would still have quick access to the guide by using the guide button on your remote.

Using the Guide button on the remote rather than the Xfinity button does not resolve the issue for those of us who want to record programs.  Pressing the Guide button directs the TV to the channels, but then when you press the Record button, one can record only the program as scheduled without the previously available options (to extend the recording, etc.).  PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE revert to include the Guide option on the main Xfinity menu.

I agree this is an absolutely ridiculous change on Xfinity's part. EVERYONE uses the guide, but not everyone watches Sports (like me). Furthermore, I resent having to pay a sports surcharge when I never watch a single sports channel. Make the people who actually watch the sports pay more for it.

Why would you intentionally put Sports on their when half of your subscribers are women who don't watch sports.  You would be better off having "Movies" or "Netflix" --anything but Sports!

@user_f57z16 I so agree with all you said -- must be men making these decisions.  Probably men who are wearing jerseys of their favorite team.  Stupid decision by Comcast.  And insult to those of us who hate sports or don't watch them.

It  WAS INTENTIONAL! Due to an update Spent 2 hrs 15 min last night trying to figure it out. Spent about an hour interest today ed that first level deck and second level tech. Was kind and calm but furious and went to know. Have asked them for a discount for this month's bill because they gave no warning and I spent a good part of my time trying to figure it out. First level tech didn't know about it either and tried everything to fix  To both 1st and 2nd level techs I recommended two options to them: #1 Xfinity should provide a customizable option for the menu choices,

or #2 Xfinity should provide an option out button for the sports label so the guide comes back. [Edited: "Solicitation"]

Thank you for your feedback about this experience, user_1j942q. We always want things to be simple and easy for you and apologize it took time to find out what had happened. I understand that can be frustrating to go through. @westwayneguy88888 is correct that you can still use the Guide button on the Xfinity remote to view all the Live TV channel guide.

user_cyk9te Hello and thank you for taking the time to reach out to us here on our Xfinity Forums. I can understand how frustrating it is when layouts change. It was an intentional change, you would still have quick access to the guide by using the guide button on your remote.

Ok, so it was intentional. Again, it makes absolutely no sense. As we said EVERYONE uses the guide, but not everyone watches sports. Why would they make that part of the main Xfinity menu?

Same! This is absolutely ridiculous. I do not watch sports and now you have it as the FIRST OPTION!!!! This screen should be customizable for the amount of money I pay a month for service.

your 1st option is to use the guide button on the report

@westwayneguy88888 Thanks for your response, but just to clarify—I was specifically referring to the first option that appears within the guide menu itself, not the first overall option or how to access the guide. I totally understand how to use the guide button; my point was more about how the content is prioritized once you’re in there. I really wish there were an option to customize that layout, especially considering the subscription cost.

I use the Guide button on the Xfinity remote to view Movies Listings. I used Guide from the xfinity menu to view All Channels TV Listings. There is already a C-(round) button on the remote to open the Sports Zone app which only obscures the right side of my screen instead of propagating the full screen like your new Sports option on the xfinity menu. Please consider undoing this deliberate poorly introduced "update."
