If you are upgrading from the old iGuide to X1, then yes, you will lose recordings. The old DVR's only recorded to a local hard drive. X1 uses Cloud recordings, and a local copy if you have a true DVR.

Also, you will need to recreate your series recording list. Again, for iGuide, it is stored only on the box. At least with X1, you can search for and add programs, even if they are not currently airing in the next two weeks. When I converted a few years ago, I went through the list on the old box and wrote them all down. You can even do it online, as everything is stored on servers. It may be faster and easier than on the box.
