Live tv delay

My tv boxes are having issues with live tv delays. I watch alot of sports and the tv boxes are 30-45 seconds behind the live tv transmission. The xfinity app I stream on my tablet is ahead of the tv boxes. This issue just stated within the last 6 months. I had a technician come out to the house in the hope he could fix it but he told me there wasn't anything he could do.  I need help Xfinity.

Thank you for letting me know. This sounds a lot like "Broadcast Delay". This happens to prevent mistakes or unacceptable content from being broadcast. I am an avid sports fan, and always find the scoring seconds before the TV shows them. While this is not convenient, it is not uncommon to have delays between online, radio, and TV.

Latency takes place in a broadcast because processing and sending live video takes time. It doesn’t take much time, of course. Nonetheless, each step in the process results in a tiny delay. These steps include:

  • Camera processing the image
  • Encoders transcoding the content
  • Time for the video to be transmitted to the viewer
  • Buffering

Each device may perfom these functions differently. Unfortuntaly, if the connection is solid, and you are still seeing the content wheater delayed or not, it is normal for some delays. Upon the technitions check, did they find any service issues in your home?

@XfinityBrandon there were no issues when the technician came out.  This is not a normal broadcast delay though I never had the issue until we had a service outage and it started once the service was restored.  This issue is something that needs to be fixed on Comcast’s end as it is affecting not only live tv but recordings as well as they are cutting off minutes before the show ends.  Take responsibility for the problem don’t make excuses

We do understand the frustration with the delays you are experiencing. We can certainly take a look at your account, to make sure all the signals are where they should be. We want to make sure there is nothing on our end impacting your service.

Could you please send our team a direct message with your full name and full address? Our team can most definitely take a further look at this issue.

To send a "Direct Message" to Xfinity Support:

Click "Sign In" if necessary

Click the "Direct Messaging" icon or  https://comca.st/3EqVMu7

Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there

 - As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list

 - An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line

Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

Press Enter to send it

See  https://comca.st/3KQF8q9 for an example.

I have same issue, I don't want to hear that this is the accepted network broadcast delay, its not!  I can be watching an event, speaking on phone with friend and they are watching as well, and they say "Oh No" and we are in commercial or event was not broadcast to us in same timing as friend experiencing SAME NETWORK BROADCAST delay.

It's on Xfinity, it's your issue, affecting your customers.

Please solve.

@user_52a054 I told the technician the same thing when he came out.  I never had an issue until we had a service outage that lasted several hours and once service was restored the delay started.  They just don’t want to take responsibility for the issue

Same issue for me. My friends will text the touchdown - and on my screen, the play hasn’t started - so I would say it’s a 30-45 second broadcast delay. This is not new, it has been like this forever… Very aggravating. My friends are forever texting me spoilers!!😡

My friend and I frequently watch sports together over the phone.  He is in a new house outside of Newark, NJ.  I'm in a two year old house outside of Houston.  We both have xfinity.  I timed it and he is 23 seconds ahead of me.  Does anyone have any suggestion for me?   Thank you.

@user_b7e946 Thanks for reaching out, if you and your friend are watching different feeds then there may be delays in the broadcast depending on the method you choose to watch. If you have any other concerns we can help with please feel free to ask.

It has been 4 months since I first posted about my service issues with no resolution from Comcast.  Same old excuses with no results.  It is frustrating that I pay close to $300 a month and still can’t get my delay issues resolved.  I was told a new box would be sent to me almost 2 months ago and still have not received it.  Do better comcast and treat your customers better

Same issue here in Mason/Memphis TN, particularly with the local channels, which are often 20-30 seconds behind real time. I would get a tweet saying something happened before it happens on TV.
