Limit channels that can be scrolled through

My elderly mother with dementia gets confused when flipping through the channels, especially those that show  "cancel or subscribe to this channel".
I know how to limit channels on the guide (favorite, free to me, etc). But how do you limit the channels that you scroll through outside the guide? My mom will just keep pushing the UP channel button and there are hundreds of channels that we don’t have access to or are Spanish language. I want only access to a handful of channels.

@user_5f0883, Thanks so much for reaching out to Xfinity Support. I definitely understand what you are dealing with. My father went through the same thing. I would recommend reaching out to our Accessibility team to see if they have any suggestions on how to help. Here is their contact information:

It's possible that locking channels via X1's parental controls might do what you want. Please see this support article.

I deal with this same issue every day with my father who has dementia.  Parental lock controls don't work.  Showing only the channels we are subscribed to in the guide does not work.  What I need is for the channels we are not subscribed to to not be displayed when using the channel changer.  When my dad sees one of these which say you can sign up for it he gets confused and gets stuck on it.  I really wish xfinity would do some research on the millions of people with dementia and take some steps to make it easier for them and their caregivers.  Just make a simple version of cable with a very simple remote, Please!

@user_fstmiq I love this feedback. We are always looking for ways to improve our customers experience in using our products and services. I would be delighted to provide this feedback, and see if can make some changes. The guide feedback is pretty straight forward, what is the ask with the remote? We have our large button remote that has been simplified. I look forward to working with you on this!

I have this same issue, too. I get that the remote needs to have all the buttons to program the tv and take advantage of all that xfinity offers. But my dad just needs volume up/down and channel up/down, and power on/off and mute. And *I* need to be able to select the channels that he will cycle through when he hits the channel up/down button (I can use the more complicated remote to do that). But I don't see any way to do that at present, and it's a huge problem. I may well be leaving xfinity for some other smartTV streaming type solution.

I understand needing a simple remote. We had to buy my dad a universal remote last year because of his arthritis. Have you checked out our Xr2 or XR5 remotes? One of these may be a good option for you. https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/x1-get-to-know-the-xr2-and-xr5-remote
