Is it possible to have X1 Boxes and the older boxes at same time

I have 6 receivers throughout the house that are non X1 Boxes but now MLB Extra Innings has been made available only on X1 service so is it possible to switch out 3 of my 6 boxes for X1 boxes in my mancave to get that sports package but keep 3 of my old boxes that either have my dvr stored shows on one and another in my fathers room who doesn't want his box changed?

short answer is yes (see your local xfinity store). why not try using Roku Ultra box (4k) and see if it meets your needs. currently free to use with X1 service.
