IR Cable Box

I used to be able to control my Comcast cable box with my Bose remote using an IR repeater. The newest cable box from comcast is RF and competes with the Bose. The Bose remote will control everything except the Comcast cable box. Does Comcast offer a box that is IR?

Hello! Thank You for taking the time to reach out to Xfinity Support, here on the Community Forum. We do still have the older style Legacy TV boxes, with IR, available in most markets. To the best of my knowledge, all X1 boxes are RF. I would be happy to take a look at your account to see what we have access to in your market. To send a "Peer to peer" message:

Click "Sign In" if necessary
Click the "Peer to peer chat" icon
Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
Type "Xfinity Support" in the "To:" line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list which appears. The "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line
Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
Press Enter to send it

on the cable box that does not appear to have IR, use voice command "about". what is the set top version reported on that screen?
