input non-HD channel and want it to go to automatically go to same channel that is HD

Got a new DVR. The old one let me input non-HD channel and had a setting to convert that automatically to the HD version of that channel. I can't find a setting for that on my new DVR.

Does https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/x1-auto-tune-to-hd-channels help?

Thank you very much for reaching out here. That link and article are the best option to set that feature up.

  1. Using your remote, press the xfinity button to bring up the on-screen menu.
  2. Highlight Settings (the gear icon) and press OK. Highlight Preferences and press OK. Highlight General and press OK. Press the down arrow and highlight Prefer Best Available Resolution. Then press OK to toggle the feature on or off.
  3. Press Exit to finish.

@XfinityJohnG We have found that if we are on the "guide" and put in nonHD station, it goes to that nonHD station; but if we do not have the guide on the screen and input nonHD station, it does autotune to HD station.

That is correct! The guide will always tune to any channel you enter, even the non-HD ones when on screen to display the requested channel information. Whereas when the guide is not on screen, the X1 equipment will default to the best picture quality version of a duplicate channel if it detects it.
