Keep in mind that a "remote" problem might be caused by the remote not sending the correct signals, OR by the device receiving the signals not processing them correctly. With that in mind, some "first aid" suggestions:
Consider getting another remote so you have a spare. Test the spare to make sure it's working, then remove the batteries (so they don't drain and cause corrosion), and maybe store it with a copy of the programming instructions from https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/programming-your-xfinity-remote.
