How to off TV screen when listening to music

I used to be able to tune to a music channel then turn off the TV. I would hear the music through my sound bar that’s connected to the cable box. I do not need to use power to see the “art” on the TV screen. Now when I turn the TV off, the cable box goes off so the music goes off too.  What do I need to do now to turn off the TV but keep the cable box on?

Try looking at Settings/Device Settings/Power Preferences. Look at the "HDMI Device Control" setting and turn it OFF if it is ON. When ON, the box will go into standby when it detects the device connected to it is turned off.

Hey @user_e6eec2 I appreciate you taking time to reach out to us here on ouf Xfinity Forums page for assistance regarding the options to listen to your music with the TV off. I show some steps were provided below. How is everything working? Do you need further assistance?

Yes, as I replied, the suggestion worked and I have now marked it as accepted as you asked.

Having done what was suggested in reply to my initial question, I'm wondering now whether there is a way to turn off the cable box when I am done listening to music?  When I press the power button on the Xfinity remote, it turns the TV on and leaves the cable on.

Thank you.

@user_e6eec2 That is a great question. The cable box does go into a power save mode but will not completely shut off as it does get updates at night. I have had my cable box for 7 years and it has never shut off unless I have to do a reset on it.
