How to advance by Day or Date when setting up shows to record in the guide

On the older non X1 DVR one could hit 'guide' to show the times horizontally across and the channels  vertically. Hitting Page Down/Up scrolled thru the channels. If you hit guide a second time i believe it would show you upcoming shows on a channel in a different format. Also while in the basic guide, I had on my URC Universal remote a Day +/Day - which was also on the old style Silver 9.5" long Comcast or Xfinity remotes. Some of them were either gray or bronze gray. How can you page thru days in the guide quickly on an X1 box? It's a lot more inconvenient when you know you want to record a show that's on 4-5 days later in the week and you have to scroll right in the guide. It takes forever! This is a simple feature that was on the non X1 boxes. I could never seem to find Day +/- on the Black Xr2 remote that came with my Motorola 3400 DVR but I just used the old silver remote or my URC remote. When I asked what idiot at Comcast designed this XR2 remote with missing buttons (including replay and live) they said Comcast 'simplified' the new remotes. Removing needed buttons from the remote is not simplified, it's stupid. Should one have to factor in the price of a programmable remote when considering Comcast for the TV over satellite or a phone company option?

In X1, the FF/REW buttons act as DAY+ and DAY- in the guide. One issue with X1 over legacy is that if you type in a channel number to jump to in the guide, it will also jump back to current time if you happen to be looking ahead at the time.

Page Up and Page Dn act as skip/review. The default is 5 minutes each way, but you can send some codes so the box treats them as 30/15 again. With a universal remote programmed for the X1's XMP code set, there is still a review code that is always 15 seconds. The XR11 remote does have the review button that is not on the XR2 or XR15. You can get an XR11 remote from Comcast, easiest if you have a local Xfinity store. The XR2 is OK, but doesn't support voice. The XR15 they typically hand out is horrible.

Thanks, that was a big help. I tried getting XR11 remotes from Comcast both with an online rep (direct message) and phone rep and they both sent out 3 XR15 remotes. My local store has no more XR11s and as a customer you can't call into a store to find one with stock of XR11s. They get them back when a customer returns a box so supplies vary. I did buy one on Amazon that appears new for $30 and it works great. No more sore thumb knuckle from the crappy non-buttons on the XR15! That could have been a decent remote if they used the same type of buttons as the numbers for the up/dn/L/R/OK and put back the instant replay button.

Now the remaining problem with X1 is with the many SD Channels, i.e. 3 out of 5 HBO and Showtime channels are not HD. They take a 16:9 show and put it on a 4:3 SD channel which adds bars top and bottom. Then you view that on a 16:9 TV and get more bars on the sides. Since the X1 box does not output in native mode like the old boxes did, it upscales it to 16:9 so my TV defaults to screen fit (correct for a HD channel) and I cannot choose Zoom1 which would scale proportionally to fill the screen though with a softer look since it's scaled. A advanced phone support person told me that their home TV has black bars on all sides on the movie channels so they don't recognize the problem. Other reps have said that if they offer 1 HBO or another movie channel in HD, they get to advertise HD.
