How do I ensure all “New” programs are recorded?
For example, 3 episodes of Who Wants to be a Millionaire were recorded on 1/6 (as I have it set to record "All New Episodes") but they actually weren't due to the Capitol Insurrection coverage (i.e., the news coverage was recorded). These "new" episodes are now being broadcast by ABC over the next three weeks and, although each is marked as "New" in the guide, none are being recorded, supposedly because Xfinity will not record a show that was recently recorded ("recent" being an unknown period of time) regardless of how the show is marked. Without anticipating that this is going to happen and recording each show individually, is there any way to override Xfinity's restrictions on re-recording a show and have the show automatically recorded as I originally intended?

That's a great question, and thank you for posting, @CTHusky721! Unfortunately, if there is a special event or a live broadcast during that time, the system will not automatically record the episodes the next time they are aired. In this particular situation, you would have to set the recording for those episodes manually because that special even or live broadcast would be recorded instead. Does that make sense?

Yes, I understand that whatever's being broadcast at the time will be recorded. What I don't understand is why Xfinity decided that a program shouldn't be recorded if it was previously recorded and deleted in some "only known to Xfinity" timeframe. This could be solved if the user was given, in addition to "New Episodes Only" and "New and Repeat Episodes" options, an option to record "All Episodes", regardless of previous recordings.

I will be more than happy to pass along your feedback about how "New" recordings are recognized in the system. We do want to provide the best possible viewing experience. Trust me, I completely understand your perspective. It has been a while since I have watched "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" but I have been watching Superstore recently and I would not want to miss an episode. It helps to use the Xfinity Stream app. Do you have the app? From the Live TV section, you can go to All Channels and view live listings and set recordings. I hope this can help you keep up with your favorites and manage your service anywhere, anytime!
