Hide channels when scrolling

Do NOT answer this by saying channels can be hidden using guide. Is it possible to hide channels so that they are not seen when using the up/down channel button? I already have a simple remote so that my uncle with dementia only has to deal with changing channels using channel up/down. However he has to go through so many channels when only a fraction of them matter to him.

Hello user_i666jc, thank you for coming to our Xfinity Community forums. We appreciate you are trying to help your uncle and make things easier for him. We will do our best to help you both.

You can find multiple methods of blocking channels here.

The steps I will also include here:

Here are the specific ways to block channels on Xfinity:

  • Lock Specific Channels: Press the Xfinity button > Guide > Highlight the channel logo/number > Press OK > Select Lock.
  • Via Settings: Press Xfinity > Settings (gear icon) > Parental Controls > Channel Locks.
  • Lock by Rating: Within Parental Controls, select Movie Rating or TV Rating to block content based on maturity.

  • Settings Access: Tap the profile icon (top left) > Settings > Parental Controls.
  • Activate Locks: Toggle Parental Controls ON and create a 4-digit PIN.
  • Network & Channel Lock: Select Networks & Channels to block specific networks (e.g., HBO, Cartoon Network).
  • Note: Parental controls are not shared between devices; they must be set on each device individually.

  • If you wish to remove a channel package entirely, go to the Manage Channels app on your X1 box.
  • Select the network and choose Unsubscribe to stop receiving that content.

  • Hide Channels: Filter the X1 guide to only show channels you want to see, effectively hiding others.
  • External Trap: Contact Xfinity to have a physical "trap" installed on the line outside your home to block specific services.

We are here to help if you need further assistance.
