HDMI signal loss

If the TV is turned off or the HDMI cable is unplugged, the picture does not return when   turning the TV back on or replugging the HDMI cable. The cable box must be reset to fix the issue. This started a few days ago with no changes to the setup. Is this a know issue that may have occurred with a software update?

one last chance it is not your TV. try pulling the hdmi connector ends one at a time and reinserting them until you hear/feel the click as it locks into place. If still no joy, swap out with another HDMI cable. If still no joy, it is likely your TV's HDMI switcher board or similar. edit: I'd swap the set top box first before living with it or changing out TV.

try setting the set top box device settings menu to not go to sleep (power saver). It sounds like the TV drops the connection. do voice command 'device settings' and to to power preferences and verify power saver: Off. If that doesn't fix it change your TV to 'quick/instant on' so it keeps the HDMI connection alive.

The settings make no difference. Once the TV is turned off the picture never returns even if the TV is immediately turned back on.

The cable box was bad. Replaced box and all is good.
