HDMI ports used with Xfinity cable box keep breaking

I have a TV in my basement that is connected to cable through a cable box. A few months ago, I was having issues with the TV, and an xfinity support technician helped determine that the issue was the HDMI port on the TV. That TV was old, so I bought a replacement TV for $104 less than two months ago. Now, once again, the HDMI port on my new TV is no longer working. (It is HDMI1 that stopped working, so I switched the cable input from HDMI1 to HDMI2, and I was able to watch cable again, but now I only have one HDMI input.) Is there any reason to think that the HDMI input from the cable box is somehow breaking the HDMI inputs? This has been rather frustrating, and I don’t want to drop another $100 for a TV that’s just going to break again.
